Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Near Fine. Bill Lackey (illustrateur). First edition thus. So, here's the scoop: This rare piece of fiction from this press was first published in 1947 by the Catechetical Guild, and subsequently distributed by the recently established Dujarie Press. The press, named after the 18th century Father Jacques-Francois Dujarie, was founded by Brother Ernest Ryan to publish books (mainly on the lives of saints and other notables) written by himself and other members of the Congregation of Holy Cross. (The "CSC", by the way, is from the Latin version of the name: "Congregatio a Sancta Cruce".) This book is the second printing of the story and, like other titles from the publisher, is undated. However, there are some clues. A short note from the publisher explains that this second printing has been slightly updated by "the editors", so it seems clear that the publication date is between the death of Brother Ernest in 1963, and the closure of the press in 1968. There is a presentation label on front pastedown ("Compliments of Brother Romanus, CSC"), and some very mild browning to edges. A near fine copy in near fine dust jacket.
