Small hardcover has brown cloth-covered boards with gold spine lettering. Covers have blind stamped vine and ribbon design, with "Holiday Library" inside banner borders. Front cover has central gilt shield with "Young Lord" at center. All page edges gilt. Dark brown coated endpapers. Black and white frontispiece; added title page has title as The Young Lord and the Trial of Adversity". Front hinge cracked, webbing showing, intact. Back hinge partially cracked, but still strong. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with minor fraying at tips and spine ends. Covers have light surface and edge wear; front cover and spine are faded. Small bookstore sticker in French on front endpaper. Front free endpaper and half-title page have a diagonal crease. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. First three pages have a light moisture stain at bottom corner. 143 pages. No dust jacket. Contents: The Young Lord by Mrs. Crosland, late Camilla Toulmin; Trials of Adversity; Victorine Durocher, or, The Blessings of Peace, by Mrs. Sherwood, and her daughter, Mrs. Streeten. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
