Hardcover. Etat : Very Good Minus. This appears to be the First English Edition (NAP). It's a fairly rare book and I've priced it quite inexpensively. The pricing goes along with the Very Good Minus rating. The rating is primarily due to the presence of dust staining on the middle page edge. There is a lesser amount on the top page edge. This brown dust staining has very little impact on the actual pages (I saw only a handful with a speck peeking over their middle edge), the actual pages are exceptionally clean and bright. I'm not seeing any soiling on them. There is a crease at the bottom right corner of around half of the pages. It's small and fairly light, and doesn't come anywhere near the print. There are no markings anywhere in the book. No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. There are eight pages of maps at the end of the book. There are also eight pages of photos in black and white. Be warned they are very disturbing. The covers of the book or in very good condition, as you can see from the photos. They have very little wear, a few surface scratches on the rear. The corners and edges are in very good shape. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. There is a very thin space between two of the facing maps just off the bottom edge. Both pages are perfectly bound. The book was, apparently, issued without a dust jacket.

Edition originale
Paperback. Etat : fair to g. First edition. Quarto. 476pp. Original printed wrappers. Third and last volume of a 3-vol. standard work dealing with the Holocaust in Romania. Volume I dealt with the Legionary rebellion at the end of January 1941, while volume II was devoted to the pogrom at Iasi in June/July 1941. This volume talks about the deportations of Jews largely from Bucovina and Bessarabia to the area between the Dniester and the Bug rivers, known as Transnistria. In 1941, after Axis forces invaded the Soviet Union during the Second World War, they defeated the Soviet troops in the region and occupied it. Romania controlled the entire region between Dniester and Southern Bug rivers, including the city of Odessa as local capital. The Romanian-administered territory - called the Transnistria Governorate - had an area of 44.000 km2 and a population of 2.3 million inhabitants. There were in this enlarged Transnistria nearly 200,000 Romanian/Moldovian-speaking residents. The Romanian administration of Transnistria attempted to stabilise the situation in the area under Romanian control, implementing a process of Romanianization. By March 1943, a total of 185,000 Ukrainian and Romanian Jews had been deported and the majority were executed or died from other causes in ghettos and concentration camps in an area immediately north and east of the current Transnistria, which as the latter was under Romanian and partly German occupation. This volume also addresses the subject of the pogrom at Dorohoi in the summer of 1940, and the killing of hostages in Odessa in the fall of 1941. Includes 16 b/w photographic plates and a large folded map at rear. Wrappers partly creased and rubbed along edges. Pages moderately age-toned throughout. Text in Romanian. Wrappers in overall fair, interior in fair to good condition.
