The two both fought in the Battle of the Little Bighorn, in which Gen. George Custer was killed, along with over 200 fellow US Army soldiers. The letters provide keen insights into the actual events of the battle. With a handful of black & white photos showing various people mentioned in the book. This is a series of three pamphlets in which Irene Steinberger, a graphologist, analyzes Custer's signatures along with many others who were associated with him. The art work by Lorence Bjorklund as always is wonderful and Carroll's comments provide background information on the individuals. As Carroll wrote in is introduction: "I believe the results of this collaboration are not only viable history, but just plain interesting and fun." These are all number 19 of 100 signed and numbered copies. Numbers two and three were printed in 1977 and 1978. Volume 1 is not dated but is presumed to be 1976 or 1977. Scarce to get all three volumes together. Very nice. Signed By Editor.

There is much information from the annual meetings of the Order of Indian Wars including Gatewood on the surrender of Geronimo, Gen. Kerr on the Modoc War of 1877, Gen. King on the 1876 Sioux Wars, Gen Mills on the Battle of the Rosebud and much on such famous encounters as Adobe Walls, the Fetterman Massacre, the Grattan Massacre, the Wagon Box Fight and others. Appendix A is the annual meeting of April 11, 1942 and Appendix B the membership role. This is an important addition to any library on the history of the American Indian Wars in the last half of the 19th Century. An very fine copy in a very fine, not clipped dust jacket.

Each of the lettered copies "is bound with leather and hand-made marbled papers containing an original (full-page) drawing by the artist (Lorence Bjorklund), signed by the author and artist and lettered A to Z". An immaculate copy to boot: clean and Fine in its 1/4 leather over marbled boards (with matching marbled endsheets and pastedowns).
