Livre
Soft cover. Etat : VG. 10pp extract, printed in double columns, salvaged from a damaged issue of The Century Illustrated Monthly Magazine, Volume XLIII, No. 5, March, 1892. Per the editor, "The series of essays here begun formed the initial course, delivered in March, 1891, of the Percy Turnbull Memorial Lectureship of Poetry, founded at Johns Hopkins University by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Turnbull of Baltimore. The founders thus commemorate the name of their son Percy Graeme Turnbull, who died in 1887. In accordance with the terms of the gift, a course of lectures is to be delivered annually by some one who has gained distinction as a writer of poetry, or as a critical student of the poetic art. Mr. Stedman purposely made this opening course of Turnbull lectures direct and elementary. They were delivered in Levering Hall, and were listened to with genuine and unusual interest by a crowded audience of students, faculty, and townspeople. These lectures were also delivered in the Berkeley Lyceum in New York during the following winter, in connection with Columbia College." Housed in protective mylar report cover.
