Inner hinges are fully intact. Some hand-written annotations. 430 [&] 277 pages. 11.4 x 9 inches. Compiled and edited by Samuel Lorenzo Knapp (1783-1838), author, lawyer, Massachusetts legislator, magazine editor, and a regimental commander of coast defenses during the War of 1812. Includes, along with Knapp's connecting notes, Jeremy Belknap's Biographies of the Early Discoverers, William Robertson's History of South America, James Grahame's History of North America, and David Ramsay's History of the United States.

Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. Union Jack illustrated staple bound wraps 11 x 14cm. Printed at the Pelican Press, London, and apparently published by the League of Nations Union in London, whose details and aims are stated inside the back. 36pp including double page political cartoon from the Evening Standard. Near fine, lightly tanned, with rusted staple residue inside. This presents speeches in favour of reducing and limiting armaments through international agreement by Ramsay Macdonald, Stanley Baldwin, and David Lloyd George, at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 11 July 1931. In the chair was Field Marshal Sir William Robertson, with the motion "That this meeting warmly welcomes the coming Disarmament Conference and urges the Government to do all in its power to bring about a real reduction in the Armies, Navies and Air Forces of the World." The World Disarmament Conference was scheduled to meet on 2 Feb 1932. Scarce.

Half Calf - Marbled Boards. Etat : Very Good. David Allan (illustrateur). First Edition. Two Works Bound in One, both printed in 1788. The Gentle Shepherd being the first printing containing David Allan's engravings, this being the smaller size with 6 cuts in total. Size 16mo, 6" x 3.5", 100 pages to William Dunbar's Poems and 96 pages to The Gentle Shepherd. Recent professional rebinding in half tan calf over marbled boards, with burgundy morocco and gilt title label to the spine, new end-papers with original end-papers also retained. With engraved frontispiece by the renowned David Allan, of a classical scene headed "Bellenden's Poems. The Scotish Poets." and 5 further full-page engravings by David Allan in The Gentle Shepherd. Condition very good, corners and edges very slightly rubbed, there is slight offsetting from the woodcuts onto the opposing pages, (including the title page for Dunbar's poems, as the frontispiece for The Gentle Shepherd has been bound in at the front of the book, opposite this page) other than this the pages are very clean throughout both works. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Book.
