Couverture rigide. Etat : Neuf. Edition originale. Salsburg 2008. 1 Volume/1. -- As New -- Hardback & Dust jacket - Quarto size ( 31,5 x 24,5 cm )( 1265 gr ). ------- 136 pages. *********** The language of material plays an essential role in the work of Anselm Kiefer, most of whose pictures have a geological sedimentary texture. Anselm Kiefer was born in Donaueschingen in 1945, and now lives and works in Paris. For the past forty years, his work has been developing in a process of accumulation, mingling and reworking of themes, motifs and constellations which recur and overlap repeatedly in diverse media. Highly symbolic connections emerge from lead, concrete, dried plants, glass, barbed wire and other heterogeneous materials. Numerous pastose layers of muted colours lend the surface of his paintings a relief-like structure and thus an almost sculptural plasticity. Before Kiefer began his artistic career, he studied law, literature and linguistics. Then he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, and later in Düsseldorf, where he became a student of Joseph Beuys. Since the beginning of his career in art, Kiefer has explored German post-war identity; he participated in the exhibition at the German pavilion of the 1980 Venice Biennale. In recent years, Kiefer's main preoccupation has been analytical reflection on the functions and iconographies of the most diverse myths whether Christian, cabbalistic or Germanic. He frequently has recourse to literary models such as Paul Celan, Ingeborg Bachmann or Louis-Ferdinand Céline, condensing their work in his art. "" ******************************************* Salsburg 2008. 1 Volume/1.
