Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Good+. First US Edition. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original stamped cloth boards with gilt on spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The top of spine is also frayed. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front pastedown contains the bookplate from the original owner, Nathaniel Goodwin, and his signature and a 1869 date is penciled on the opposite page. The frontispiece contains a large foldout map showing her Majesty's tower. The map has some foxing and a few creases but is in good shape and attached. Pages are toned due to age and there is also scattered minor foxing and spotting. The rear end page and pastedown is stamped at the bottom "Library Book No.______ Wurtland Graded School". The stamp is not filled out and since Nathaniel Goodwin was listed as the owner in 1869 it is assumed that these two stamped marks were put in the book in a unofficial capacity.

Ajouter au panierFIRST EDITION hardcover, sewn-bound in reddish-brown decorative blind-stamped cloth, with dimmed gilt lettering on spine, is in FAIR condition, having some wear to center spine with some staining (see photo); corners bumped and worn; rubbing/scuffing and small stain to front cover, and rubbing/scuffing to back cover; evidence of some paper previously glued to first fixed endpaper removed; staining to center gutter of first endpaper section that carries on to the first chapter; smaller staining to last endpaper section, also at center gutter, but it doesn't seem to affect previous pages; cracking in gutters of both endpaper sections; rubber-stamped signature of long-ago former owner of book on first free endpaper. A collection of analysis and comments, somewhat biographical, by Dixon inspired by unpublished writings of Francis Bacon (1561-1626), British philosopher and statesman. Biography. Criticism. DB[8].

All of the pages are intact and the cover is intact and the spine may show signs of wear. The book may have minor markings which are not specifically mentioned. A good condition copy bound in half calf with marbled paper covered boards. Scuffs and wear to extremities with a tear to the top of the spine. Contents overall clear with a pocket stating "Plan of the Tower" that has been added by a previous owner. The plan however, is missing. Contents have a note of previous ownership and a bookplate otherwise clear and unmarked.
