Quinze jours au Sinaï (Première éd.: Paris, Drumot, 1839 sous le titre "Nouvelles impressions de voyage: Quinze jours au Sinaï, par A. Dumas et A. Dauzats). Adrien Dauzats (1804-1868), fidèle ami de Dumas, peintre et grand voyageur, accomplit un voyage au Sinaï en 1830 avec Isidore Taylor, dit Baron Taylor, Commissaire royal près le Théâtre français de 1825 à 1840, et un certain M. Mayer; il confia ses notes à Dumas pour qu'il les mette en oeuvre en vue de la publication. 2. L'Arabie Heureuse, Souvenirs de voyages en Afrique et en Asie (Première éd.: 1860). L'ouvrage a été édité par Dumas, l'auteur étant Charles-Louis Ducouret (1812-1867), un aventurier qui se serait converti à l'Islam et qui, devenu Hadji Abdelhamid Bey, aurait été nommé Colonel et Bey par le Chérif de La Mecque puis aurait été chargé par le Cheikh du Yémen de réorganiser son armée; de retour en France, il était devenu membre de la Société Orientale mais une commission présidée par Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire a établi qu'il ne connaissait ni l'arabe ni l'Islam. 3. La Vie au Désert, cinq ans de chasse dans l'intérieur de l'Afrique méridionale, par Gordon-Cumming, publié à Londres en 1850 et en France, chez Michel Lévy, en 1860, Dumas étant l'auteur de l'avant-propos. Roualem Gordon-Cumming (1820-1866) était un voyageur et chasseur écossais qui voyagea dans le sud de l'Afrique avec des guides locaux qui lui avaient été fournis par David Livingstone; il chassa essentiellement au Bechuanaland (actuel Botswana) et dans la vallée de la rivière Limpopo, formant la frontière avec l'Afrique du Sud. L'écrivain Alexandre Davy de La Pailleterie, dit Dumas (1802-1870) était le fils du Général Alexandre Davy Dumas (1762-1806) et eut pour fils naturel l'écrivain et dramaturge Alexandre Dumas, dit Dumas Fils (1824-1895). L'ouvrage est traditionnellement attribué au prolifique Alexandre Dumas, qu a signé l'introduction, pourtant le texte est bien autonome et remonte à l'auteur explicite : il parut pour la première fois en anglais en 1850 sous le titre Five Years of a Hunter's Life in the Far Interior of South Africa.Roualeyn George Gordon Cumming (1820-1866) était un voyageur et chasseur écossais qui, après un séjour aux Indes, effectua un périple dans la corne méridionale de l'Afrique, essentiellement dans le Bechuanaland (actuel Botswana), et le long de la vallée du Limpopo.Vicaire III, 421 (cite notre édition, mais ne l'a jamais vue).
