Etat : Wie neu. Steidl, Göttingen. 2006. First edition, first printing. By the maker of the legendary "Trying to Dance"; Martin Parr, The Photobook, vol 2, page 322/323. Engström is the shooting-star of swedish photography! Hardcover with dustjacket. 242 x 305 mm (9.75 x 12.25 inch). 216 pages. 127 color and duotone plates. Edited by JH Engström and Greger Ulf Nilson. Condition: Dustjacket on the backside with slightest trace of use; no defects. Otherwise new, mint, unread. Overall excellent, like new condition! Haunts can be seen as part two of a trilogy which began with Trying to Dance, JH Engström's artist's book project which was short-listed for the 2005 Deutshe Börse Photography Prize. At the back of Trying to Dance JH Engström wrote "I'm always looking for presence. Whenever I try, my doubts get unmasked." These doubts and questions are prelevant in Haunts, but in this volume Engström focuses more on public spaces and life in the streets. At the center of JH Engström's pictures is a strong feeling of being in an endless present tense. The confrontation between "now" and the photographer's memories is inevitable. And he doesn't try to separate emotions from objectivity. His images embody their questions. Condition: Coth inside and outside brilliant, clean, new , mint condition. Outside rear dustjacket with minimalst trace of use. Great copy, signed by the artist!
