Nicely illustrated story of a small pony who is in military service in the mountains of Burma. Witen in the first person, it is the author's second book about the pony. 325 grams.

Ex library with usual stamps and markings. Dust jacket bumped and chipped at edges, some toning and foxing, particularly to spine. Some closed tears have been fixed by a previous owner with sellotape on the inside, not visible on outer cover. First hinge cracked revealing webbing and very light scattered foxing throughout, otherwise book very good clean and tight.

DJ has large chip bottom of spine - interestingly the reverse of the jacket is the dustjacket for Allen Seaby's The Shetland Pony. Some soiling and stains, but displays nicely in clean Brodart jacket. Not price-clipped. Name and date 1945 on ffep. 175 pages. Born in the mountains of Afghanistan, Khyberie the pony soon showed his climbing skill by clambering down off the face of Devil's Cliff when, as a young foal, he lost his mo ther. Bought by a man for his daughter, Kyberie had many adventures with her.

Like Black Beauty, this story is narrated by the horse, and as stated in the title, takes place on the North-West Frontier in what used to be India. 630g. Slight fading to edges of jacket, spine darkened. 3cm tear at bottom of front spine fold otherwise minor edge wear. More about Khyberie, the mountain pony born in Afghanistan who first appeared in the author's previous book Khyberie: A Pony on the Indian Frontier. Captain Malcolm, his owner, was ordered to Burma and , on account of the distance and difficulties of the journey, decided to leave Khyberie behind despite the entreaties of his daughter. How he eventually got to Burma and the adventures met with there are told here with many touches of humour. Size: 8vo.
