Livre Edition originale
Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. 457 pp. x. Stated: "First edition 1979". References, pp. 447-454; Index, pp. 455-457. TYPESCRIPT. VG or VG-minus. Glossy dark mauve wraps, with sewn signatures, and large three-tone pink, circular geometrical image on lower 3/5 fron t cover; title lettering in white over dark mauve at top right front cover, above author name in small dark pink. Two use creases down length of spine, with several places where sewn signatures are stretched, e.g., between pp. 18-19, 148-149, 152-153, 171-172, 178-179: signatures are sewn, so these are not the garden variety examples of "cracked" spine which glued bindings may exhibit to huge detriment); lower third of pp. 169/170 (blank) has been wrinkled, as if from previously dampness (NO tears or rubbing thin), while pp. 165-198 show diminishing waviness, due to dampness (NO jagged lines of discoloration, amounting to a roughly 1" strip across bottom of pages), with NO text impacted. Title page is 2/3 covered in small bits of mathematical formulas and technical terms, evidently the handiwork of previous owner, Frank Wilczek, MacArthur "Genius" Award Winner (1982); Nobel Prize Winner in Physics (2004); King Faisal Prize Winner (2005), inter alia. Frank Wilczek's ownership signature appears at bottom right of half-title page. Binding still essentially strong, despite stretched places; corners square (NO bumps or curls). Clean text but for title page. Collectible and, equally, usable.
