Hardcover. Etat : USED_VERYGOOD. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Foreword signed by Claude R. Wickard, Democrat Secretary of Agriculture, whose name is immortalized in Democrat Justice Robert H. Jackson's corrupt (or else insane) 1942 Supreme Court decision Wickard v. Filburn, in which the court held federal tyrants had the previously unimagined power to restrict how much wheat Ohio farmer Roscoe Filburn could grow to feed his own animals on his own farm -- without moving said wheat across state lines, or entering said wheat into any form of "commerce," at all -- under its power to regulate "Interstate Commerce" -- a decision which effectively gave Congress and Washington's unelected regulatory agencies, for the first time, the power to regulate any damned thing they pleased. This volume covers "Climate and the Farmer," "The Scientific Approach to Weather and Climate," "Climatic Data, With Special Reference to Agriculture in the United States," etc. Although Richard Joel Russell, Professor of Physical Geography at LSU, notes in his essay "Climatic Change Through the Ages" that the glaciers last started receding 30,000 TO 40,000 years ago, and that "In the seventh century . . . glaciers retreated to such an extent that a heavy traffic used alpine passes now closed by ice," the index to this volume shows no entry for "Global warming," let alone for "Catastrophic man-made global warming," nor can we find any reference to the gas carbon dioxide (necessary for life on earth) as a cause of "global warming" -- as the beginnings of that politically motivated hoax were not to be perpetrated for another 20 to 30 years. This hefty octavo weighs about 4 lbs. (1.8 kilograms) and counts 1,248 pp., now reduced from $18.
