Front board weak, restrengthened with glue. Some damp page rippling and cover impact. DJ has wear, soiling, tears, chips, damp staining. Major General Ernest Nason Harmon (February 26, 1894 - November 13, 1979) was a senior officer of the United States Army. He served in both World War I and World War II, being best known for his actions in reorganizing the 1st Armored Division after the debacle at the February 1943 Battle of Kasserine Pass during the Tunisia Campaign. In March 1918, Harmon went to France with F Troop, 2nd Cavalry. The 2nd Cavalry was the only Cavalry unit to go overseas during World War I. In September 1944 Harmon returned to command the 2nd Armored and led the division, which played a large role in the Battle of the Bulge. Harmon assumed command of the XXII Corps, in early 1945, and led the corps in the final stages of the war, participating in the Allied invasion of Germany. Ernest Harmon was commissioned in 1917 and assigned to Fort Ethan Allen. There he assumed command of Troop F, remaining with it through WW1. In WW2 he was commander of two famed armored divisions and played major role in the following battles: Tunis, Bizerte, Cassino, Anzio, and the Battle of the Bulge. In 1966, William MacKaye became an editor of The Washington Post, and in 1975. He was a fellow of the prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities Journalism Fellowship Program (now known as the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship Program) at Stanford University. In later years William became associate editor of The Washington Post Magazine and then editor and chief executive officer of In Trust, Inc., an organization that teaches principles of good governance to the boards and senior administrators of North American graduate schools.
