Political and battle poems by Southey, plus Edmonds' WWI poetry. The woodengraved titlepage portrait is a modernization of an old image.

Hardback. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Fair. 1st. First edition hardback, 1944, with unclipped jacket. In overall good condition - dj is complete but tanned to spine and tatty to upper edges; original blue cloth bevel-edged boards, with gilt titles to spine, are a little rubbed to edges. Binding tight and appears little read, no annotations or inscriptions - doodles and hand-written score chart to endpapers (perhaps by some bored schoolboy?); a little foxing to page-ends and endpapers but text clean and clear throughout. From a private collection, not an old library book.

Moderate thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages, text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Pencil inscription to rear pastedown. Binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with noticeable staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has moderate staining and tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.
