Edition originale
Hardcover. First edition. 319pp. Duodecimo [19.5 cm] Olive green cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title and bamboo design on the spine. Very good. The spine is heavily rolled, and the spine ends and corners of the covers are gently bumped. There is a bookseller's tiny label on the front free endsheet. There is a 1 inch long closed tear at the head of the title page. The dust jacket is in very good condition, with very light soiling. The spine of the jacket is subtly faded. The edges are a little chipped, and have a couple of small closed tears. There is a faint erased pencil notation on the front inside flap. Includes essays and sketches written while Lafcadio Hearn wrote for the Cincinnati and New Orleans newspapers.
