Loose as Issued. Etat : Good. George Cruikshank. (illustrateur). 5th or later Edition. 24 page satire in verse with 18 half page and full page woodcuts by George Cruikshank. 42nd edition (same year as the first). Remains of the original stringing, though partly loose now, title page handled and a little browned, last leaf are adverts on both sides, some pencilled names added of some of the figures shown, contents and cuts very good strikes. All pages uncut as issued. *The Queen Caroline and her profligate, sly husband George IV were at their lowest ebb when this squib came out, after he had spent her money and slandered her repeatedly, not consummating the marriage either, (it went into 44 editions within the same year). His applications and pleadings for the country to pay his debts for the third time fell on deaf ears. His vitriol and spleen was vented at his (allegedly) unfaithful wife. Banned from the Coronation in 1821, she died a few weeks later.

Loose as Issued. Etat : Very Good. George Cruikshank. (illustrateur). 24 page stitched pamphlet as issued, uncut edges, 13 woodcuts by George Cruikshank to accompany this poem on privilege. 8th edition. Stitched pamphlet with title page having become a bit grubby , back cover also, as issued in this state with uncut edges, contents very clean and fresh. Small stain at gutter of first page. overall very good *See Albert M Cohn, page 162 No 632 of the Cruikshank catalogue. Originally published in December 1819, just after the Peterloo Massacre, St Peter's Field, by February it had gone to 44 editions, So the 8th edition must have bee only a few days after the first run/issue. This political squib in rhyme describes the corruption in the upper classes and especially the Royalty and Parliament on George the IVth. For instance Cruikshank drew the then Prince Regent as a fat, bloated 60 year old dullard, a cork-screw hanging from his pocket to point towards the volume of his majesty's drinking. This attack on the ruling classes and their nepotism, theft and grift of British taxpayers money into their own voluminous pockets.
