Mit den dazugehörigen Textblättern.- Horace Bénédict de Saussure (* 17. Februar 1740 in Conches; ? 22. Januar 1799 ebenda) war ein Genfer Naturforscher, Geologe, Physiker und Alpinist. Saussure gilt als Vater der modernen Alpenforschung. Von seinen Schriften sind seine Voyages dans les Alpes hervorzuheben. Als Erstbesteiger des Kleinen Matterhorns war Horace Bénédict de Saussure auch Wegbereiter des Alpinismus.

Ses recherches eurent notamment pour cadre les Alpes, et plus particulièrement le massif du Mont-Blanc. Sa vocation scientifique s'affirmait sous l'influence de son oncle Charles Bonnet et du naturaliste bernois Albrecht von Haller. - Voyages dans les Alpes. His research took place in the Alps, and more particularly in the Mont Blanc massif. His scientific vocation was influenced by his uncle Charles Bonnet and the Bernese naturalist Albrecht von Haller.
