This book "traces the whereabouts of known surviving copies, describes the books and their bindings in considerable detail, and chronicles the fascinating history of each one." Authors William S. Peterson and Sylvia Holton Peterson also discuss what happened to the fifteen copies of the Kelmscott _Chaucer_ that were printed on vellum.
