Souvenir Program. 32pp, (9x12 inches), b&w and (a few) color photos. Very Good in stapled wrappers (softcover). Edges rubbed, light general wear, top corner a little bent, but not creased. Otherwise clean and tight, no tears or creases, no markings. History of the Black Watch, articles on the pipes, the tartan, the dancing, the band itself. The program has no publication information as such, so the date is taken from the greeting from Queen Elizabeth on page 4. It also notes that this is their second tour to the US and Canada.

Laid in are two theatre programs for The Azuma Kabuki Dancers and Musicians. One is from the Berkeley Concert Association and is dated April 4 and 5, 1956. The second program is from the Geary Theater in San Francisco, and is dated for May 17-29, 1954. Both are in excellent condition. . Hard Cover. Very Good.

Formed in New York in 1939 with Mikhail Mordkin's touring company and artists fleeing war in Europe, and renamed American Ballet Theatre in 1957. This tour presented by impresario Sol Hurok. On the Portland program: Anton Dolin and Peter Tchaikowsky's Princess Aurora, Pas de Quatre by Dolin and Cesare Pugni, Bluebeard by Michel Fokine and Jacques Offenbach, arranged and conducted by Antal Dorati, scenery and costumes by Marcel Vertès. The front cover is red with the Moscow Art Theatre iconic white bird in flight, over some wavy horizontal black lines. Completely clean, inside and out. Text pages slightly tanning at the edges. This program was prepared to accompany the 1965 season, when Sol Hurok brought the Moscow Art Theatre to America. The productions this season were: Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, The Three Sisters, an adaptation of Gogol's Dead Souls, and Nikolai Pogodin's Kremlin Chimes. Lots of biographical information about the Moscow Art Theatre actors and actresses. Essays by Konstantin Stanislavsky 'Before the Moscow Art Theatre', also a continuation of this essay by Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, an essay by Director of MAT, and also one by Joshua Logan. Small black & white photographs of all the MAT personnel. Also b/w photos from the stage sets. 6 page list of the 180 dramatic works in the MAT repertoire. 12" high X 9" wide, about 30 pages.
