"Marcia Hafif is among the pioneers of the 1970s who fundamentally broadened conceptions of the practice of painting and understanding of art per se. Since the 1980s, terms like 'radical' have been used to describe Hafif's work with monochrome painting. The pencil on paper drawings, vertical pencil marks covering a surface, begun in 1972, led to the vertical stroke in paint. Her work in both mediums still continues, fitting within what she calls 'The Inventory'. Each series included in 'The Inventory' develops a single medium using traditional methods and materials for making paint and preparing a ground. Individual works in a series can be larger or smaller, and usually are made with vertical brushstrokes, with which the effects of unmixed colours on a suitable painting ground are sounded out. Exhibition: Kunsthaus Baselland, Muttenz, Switzerland (15.09.-12.11.2017) / Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland (16.09.2017-14.01.2018)."--WorldCat. Edition originale
Softcover. Etat : Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 208 Seiten/pages, 22 x 25 cm, 152 Abbildungen in Farbe/Illustrations in color - Johnny Depp stands in a small front room surrounded by incongruously cheap furnishings; Luciano Pavarotti raises a glass of wine to the camera in a similarly tiny room; Bruce Willis gives the camera his signature squint from his kitchen table; Frank Zappa buttons up his suit in a hallway mirror; Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones poses with his bullwhip on the lawn of his back garden. All of these celebrities are, of course, lookalikes, professional doubles portrayed in the comfort of their own homes by Niklaus Spoerri. Spoerri began the project in 2007, fascinated by the qualities of eeriness, inauthenticity and verisimilitude inherent to their profession and physical appearance.
