DE FAUCINGY-LUCINGE, Jean-Louis [126] pp. Herschler 1986 14" x 10.75" This is the French language edition of a book originally published in 1972 which had the title of "Legendary Parties". It features some of the great costume Balls held in the fifty years between 1922 and 1972, including events held by legendary hosts such as Carlos de Beistegui - who had a masqued ball in Venice at his Palais Labia, Alexis de Rede whose Bal Oriental was held at the fabulous Hotel Lambert in Paris and the Rothschilds who held the Proust Bal at their magnificent Chateau Ferrieres. It is a wonderful recollection of how cafe society partied. Great photographs of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Alexis de Rede, Etienne de Beaumont, Marie-Laure de Noailles, Carlos de Bestegui and Cecil Beaton to name but a few.
