Ajouter au panierPaperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a passionate and deeply insightful exploration of the science of locomotion, specifically focusing on the mechanics of railways and steam navigation. Published in an era when these technologies were rapidly changing the world, the author challenges the prevailing scientific theories of his day, particularly those of Dr. Hutton, a prominent mathematician and physicist. The author argues that the established understanding of force and resistance in fluids, as well as the impact of falling bodies, is fundamentally flawed and proposes his own alternative theories. He presents his arguments in a clear and accessible style, drawing on practical experience, real-world examples, and rigorous mathematical reasoning. The book delves into the complexities of designing efficient and safe railways and steamships, challenging conventional wisdom and highlighting the importance of accurate scientific knowledge in the development of these crucial technologies. Ultimately, this book is a powerful call for a reassessment of accepted scientific truths, and a reminder of the vital role of accurate understanding in engineering progress. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

"Georg Geddes Property bought 23.
