Jones contributed many great fantasy and science fiction covers during the period of 1960s - 1970s. His work illustrated Robert E. Howard, Andre Norton, Dean Koontz, Jack Vance, Fritz Leiber, Karl Edward Wagner and many others. For a time in the 1970s he founded and shared a studio in New York with Berni Wrightson, Barry Windsor Smith, and Michael W. Kaluta. Jones was a major talent of the latter half of the 20th Century.
