Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. Photographs by Gozen Koshida (illustrateur). 2nd Edition. States "First Printing, this edition, 2003." (Random House put out a less impressive edition in 1996.) Number line complete 1 2 3 4 5. Gozen Koshida's food photography is magnificent. Edges of dust jacket are visibly rumpled, but not torn. Initialed "CRP" (though it could be "CLP") to half title page, and this is a "live" signature -- despite glossy photo to verso, the indentation caused by the upstroke at the end of the letter "P" can be seen and felt, there on the reverse. (Author signature is in the form of the three initials, only.) Additionally, the blank page before the "Thanks & Appreciation" page has been dated 1-7-05 and filled with a warm inscription to his betrothed by a gentleman who later became a member of the Las Vegas (Nevada) City Council -- interesting, given author Palmer's entrepreneurial activities in that city. (You may want to consider writing your warm inscriptions on a separate sheet of paper, gentlemen -- books have long lifetimes.) 206 pp. including index. Reduced from $80. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Etat : As New. Etat de la jaquette : As New. 1st Edition. As new unread condition saddle boards with a dark brown spine and silver spine lettering contained in a new condition non price-clipped color photographic dust jacket. Includes List of Other Books by Charlie Palmer; Author Dedication; Acknowledgments; Introduction; The Well-Stocked Kitchen Sources and Index. Illustrated with a section of color photographic plates. "What does Aureole's award-winning chef whip up for his family and friends when he has to do all the shopping and cooking just like the rest of us? Food that's easy, delicious, and casual. Charlie Palmer shows how to make comfort foods that are comfortable but have a new level of taste and sophistication. Sunday supper suddenly becomes sensational. And those quick midweek meals are still quick to prepare; they just don't taste that way. Corn chowder is heartier, more intense. Traditional tuna melts become untraditional with fresh tuna, tapenade, and Fontina. That childhood favorite, Waldorf salad, becomes a modern classic with apple cider, walnut oil, and a pinch of curry powder. Baked Lemon Chicken with a pile of garlic bread, a bowl of cheesy orzo or rice, and a big salad of romaine will become a Saturday night favorite, just as it is in Charlie's house. Turn Sunday's leftover Perfect Roast Chicken into Monday's Mom's Chicken Noodle Soup or Aioli Chicken Salad. When company comes calling and you're looking for something a bit more sophisticated, try Charlie's Whole Roasted Salmon with New Potatoes and Leeks and Roasted Wild Mushroom Salad or Lamb Shanks with Tomatoes, Lentils, and Olives. Or, if you want to treat company just like family, feed them Charlie's Mom's Barbecued Chicken, Perfect Pot Roast, or a heaping platter of Linguini with Eggplant Ragu. And what about desserts? Charlie has something to bring out the kid in everyone. Try his Brownie-Ice Cream Sandwiches or Apple "Pizza" with Cider Sorbet. His Pumpkin Custard is so easy and versatile, it can be baked family style in one large dish or in individual souffle cups when company is expected. Serve the custard with a plate of Ginger Cookies. So what does one of New York's most celebrated chefs cook for his family and friends? Exactly what you can cook for yours with Charlie Palmer's Casual Cooking." - - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.
