Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Justin, Justinus, Vossius. Historiiarum ex Trogo Pompeio Libri XLIV cum noti Isaaci Vossii. Lugd. Batavorum Ex Officina Elzeviriana. Anno 1640 First edition. 12mo, [16]+294+39+[54] pages, including title. Full straight-grain green morocco lettered in gilt, all edges gilt; slight rubbing at edges of spine and one corner, gilt line along board edges. Willem 502. This is an epitome of Trogus' lost Liber Historiarum Philippicarum, or Philippic Histories, a history of the kings of Macedonia. Justin aimed to collect the most important and interesting passages of that work. Like Trogu, Justin digresses frequently, so this is a kind of anthology, rather than just an epitome. With Vossius notes.
