Tissue guarded frontis, three full page plates on glossy paper and myriad in-text images by E W Kemble and Arthur E Becher. Kemble is probably most noted for his 'Kemble's Coons' book and numerous magazine illustrations in the same vein. There are several of his African-American images among the in-text illustrations. Book with corner bumping and light wear--hinges undamaged. Wrapper with edge wear and light chipping most noticeable at the spine top/bottom.
