Red leather spine with red cloth boards. Red and black title page. Gold and blank impressing. Rebacked with original spine overlaid. Some black marks and rubbing to boards. Some dampstains to bottom corners pp. 205-266. Not ex library. French author Paul Lacroix (1806-1884) also used the pseudonym P. L. Jacobs or Bibliophile Jacob as indicated on the title page. The arts described here include furniture, tapestries, ceramics, armour, metalwork, musical instruments, painting, sculpture, architecture, and much more. Perhaps not surprisingly, "Bibliophile Jacob" included chapters on parchment and paper, manuscripts, miniatures, bookbinding and printing.
