Hardcover. 1st edition. GOOD book. FINE text & plates, including the fold outs. Bright & clean. Tight despite the started signatures. 9"x6", li,727pp. Few other minor flaws. Cover extrems scuffed, top edge lightly dusted. Despite the starting the book is still tight as the book tends to stay closed when stood on its spine. Profusely illustrated with b/w plates (few in color) and two fold outs. Of particular interest to this deale (being close to Buffalo) is Martin's 10 page "The Utilization of Niagara". At the time Niagara Falls electricity had only arrived in Buffalo, 22 miles away, just the year before. This artical was preceded by a 20 page general discussion on the transmission of energy. The artical's conclusion was alternating current electricity could be transmited 35 miles. Samuel Langley was Secretary of the Smithsonian. He was an early pioneer in heavier than air flight. GOOD book. Would be VG BUT: weak hinges & 2 signatures started.
