First printing. Octavo, 2 vols. in one, pp iv, 464; [iv], 451, [3]. Detailed history of the reign of Emperor Maximilian (1864 - 67) and the French intervention in MexicoÁcomprising the official documents that were preserved in the personal files of Maximilian himself. A preliminary account covering the facts leading up the Maximilian's ascension to the throne comprises more than 300 pages of the first volume. Sabin does not record this Spanish edition, which was published simultaneously with the French, which he does note. Sr. Lefevre is identified as editor in chief of the Tribune of Mexico. Binding is holandes, or quarter leather, with marbled boards and looks to be the original; title in gilt on spine with raised bands. A chip is missing from the top of the spine, about .5 x .3 in. Otherwise good.
