Edition originale
Hardcover. First Edition, First Impression, First Issue: with the requisite error in the table of contents. 5 x 7in. xxiii. 423pp. [5pp., ads and specimen.] Publisher's cloth boards with gilt titling and decoration. Text-block edges are gold. Still laid-in is the rare "advertisement" by Lewis Carroll in which he, quite eccentrically, apologies to his readership for the printing quality of the last issue of "Through the Looking Glass" and details his plan for these copies "not worth buying." NEAR FINE. Shows the slightest possible hints of shelf rubbing at the extremities, otherwise remains Fine/As New having been exceptionally well maintained. As pictured.
