1st edn., paperback original, 191pp, half tone photo ills. and line drawings in text, large format (8 x 6 inches approx.), half tone photo pictorial upper wrapper, the author relates his RAF experiences having joined the RAF Volunteer Reserve in March 1939 as a 'pilot under training', absorbed in the RAF at the outbreak of war his training in the UK as a bomber pilot continued, in the process breaking one Airspeed Oxford and two Handley Page Hampdens, by February 1942 the RAF eventually agreed that he was better suited to navigating, from 1942 to 1945 he served with 57, 106, 75 (NZ) and 238 Squadrons, was commissioned in March 1943, awarded the DFC in June 1943 completing two tours during his war service, after demobilization at the end of the war he rejoined and had spells in India, Aden and in Coastal Command retiring from the RAF as a Flight Lieutenant in 1965, lightly rubbed at tips, small mark fore-edge, ISBN:0863033229 very good,
