The author's tours in Vitamin were: in early 1962 serving as a sergeant in a Special Forces ''A'' Team engaged in combat operations against the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces in the Delta Region of Vietnam; second tour in 1966-67 as Captain commanding a Special Forces ''A'' Team; and third and final tour of duty in 1970-71 as Major, commanding a Ranger advisory unit engage in combat operations with ARVN Rangers against NVA and local Viet Cong units entrenched in the ''Seven Mountain'' area of the Mekong Delta.
