The garden was Avonside House in Bidford on Avon, Warwickshire. The author and her husband famously created a garden here in the 1920's & 1930's, adding to the allure of the house's Art's & Crafts design (extended by the architect Hugh Baillie Scott 1865-1945). With features & plantings much influenced by Gertrude Jekyll, the author discusses practical matters & new introductions with her gardener 'Willun'. Her observations include comparisons with other gardens visited in the west country. Well preserved, ink inscription on front endpaper dated Dec 17 (1934).
