Livre
Hardcover. Etat : Fair. Folio. Two works bound in one. First part of Rudolf Gwalther's commentary on Corinthians. Blind tooled vellum, red leather spine label, raised bands. Wear and chipping to vellum, joints cracked. Library bookplate. [10], [32], 242 pp; [18], [14], 272 pp. Occasional spotting and old ink marginalia. Old dampstain to bottom margins throughout. Adams M790; G1397 (Priorem only). Bookplate and signatures of A.W. Miller, 1874, one ink signature on front board. Kressner Helmut interpreted Gwalther's Homilies on Corinthians as a specific attack on Genevan Presbyterianism. Gualther's homilies contain the classical answer to tendencies of this kind, an answer which at the same time gave Zwingli's political theory the most succinct and abrupt formulation.
