No Binding. Etat : Very Good. Dawn By Flagg (illustrateur). First. A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of President McKinley, with the caption "An American Protector". William McKinley, Jr. (January 29, 1843 - September 14, 1901) was the 25th President of the United States, and the last veteran of the American Civil War to be elected. He was assassinated by Leon Czolgosz, an American anarchist, and succeeded by Theodore Roosevelt.

Octavo, vi, 664pp, [2pp ads]. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spine and front panel. Frontispiece portrait of William McKinley, with four additional engraved plates, all with tissue covers and light foxing. Yellow endpapers, front hinge starting, solid text block. Rubbing to tips, wear to head of spine, clean cloth boards. Inscribed on the front flyleaf: "Very truly yours, W. McKinley / To Dewitt Mullen Esq / Phila Pa / Columbus, O / Dec 14/93." This book was inscribed by Gov. William McKinley in 1893, while serving as the 39th Governor of Ohio. With President Grover Cleveland unlikely to seek a third presidential term, McKinley was mentioned as the likely republican candidate for the presidency in 1896.
