The cover indicates that the illustrator is Alice V. Carsey, while the title page indicates that the book is illustrated by D. J. O'Brien, and there is one additional reference on the title page to a cloth bound edition with 10 additional full page pictures in color and in black and white by Mae Herrick Scannel. This book contains black and white illustrations signed O'Brien. The book also has the original Whitman bookmark laid in loosely at the front. Grayish pink boards with color illustration mounted on the front, 122 pages, illustrated dustjacket. There is some light rubbing to the spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, very clean pages with the aforenoted gift inscription and old price stamp on the front free endpaper, no other markings, no chips or tears. The mylar protected dustjacket has several small edge chips and closed tears, the largest one at the lower front, about 1/2" high and 2" wide. A clean and sound copy. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
