Mass Market Paperback. Etat : Very Good. Simon Metz (illustrateur). First Edition 1st Printing. Light Creasing on Front, Rear Covers; Front, Rear Covers, Spine Lightly Chipped. He was one of thousands . . . This is one young soldier's life and war. COMPILED BY: Bradshaw Frey. SYNOPSIS: "I'm not the fun-loving guy I was when I left. Maybe if I try, I can regain what I've lost . . . " At the idealistic age of twenty, Bill Frey is sent to fight in Vietnam. Soon disenchanted by the war's grim reality, he takes solace in writing home. As the world explodes around him, these letters bind Bill to the things he loves most - his family, his fiancée - and they keep his dreams and hopes alive. Heartfelt and unpretentious, they show the innate courage that won him two Silver Stars and a Purple Heart. And they chronicle Bill's fight for spiritual survival amid carnage - a battle lost only when he fell to enemy fire while trying to rescue a wounded buddy. Here is Bill's actual correspondence. Through these letters you will get to know him, love him, mourn him. Simple descriptions of the life of an ordinary soldier, they offer poignant testimony to the fury and valour that fill a fighting man's day . . . the grief that besieges his soul . . . and the longing that haunts his heart. WITH PHOTOS. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
