Internally very good with no marks and no foxing. Paper slightly toned. Firmly bound in full brown calf, five raised bands to spines, boards sunned unevenly, spines darkened and slightly rubbed. Very slight losses to top edge of upper board of vol.I. Gilt decoration with the words Que scay-je? on green background to both upper boards, and gilt titles on faded green background to spines. A very good set.
Leather Binding. Etat : Very Good. First Thus. Copy #56 of 1375 numbered copies. 2 volumes, bound in full light brown morocco, spines with raised bands and green leather label, upper covers feature an oval green leather onlay featuring a Montaigne quote in gilt, surrounded by gilt scrolwork tooling, top edges gilt (spines have some darkening and some fading to spine labels; slight wear). No slipcase.
