Ajouter au panierPaperback. Etat : new. Paperback. 'Call me Nana!' is an autobiographical tale from James Moxon O.B.E. (1920-1999), also known as Nana Kofi Abonyaa, written in 1990 and first published posthumously in 2025. The book recounts Moxon's experiences in the Gold Coast (now Ghana), where he served as a District Commissioner and remained after Ghana's Independence in 1957 to become Director of Information Services in President Kwame Nkrumah's new government. His deepening integration with the local Akan culture and people led to him being enstooled as Ankobea (a sub-chief) of Aburi in the Adonten Division of Akuapem in 1963 and this account is centred on the period of his chieftaincy. The book is not only a personal memoir filled with anecdotes, cultural insights, and reflections on Moxon's position as a white chief in Africa, but also a tribute to the people of Ghana and their enduring cultural heritage. His story is one of adaptation, respect, and mutual understanding, highlighting the complexities and rewards of cross-cultural experiences.
