The author's signature also shows on her note to Barbara (Cooper) which is tucked inside the book and which can be seen in the photo. This book comes from the library of Barbara Cooper, mother of Jillie Cooper. Barbara Cooper was secretary to John Lehmann, editor, journalist, poet. Adrian White in his biography of Lehmann wrote: 'Few writers would have known that their work had to pass the gimlet eye of Barbara Cooper before being offered up to Lehmann with her already pronounced opinion.'
