Etat : Near fine. The New Edition of Fragmenta Regalia: Memoirs of Elizabeth, Her Court and Favourites by Sir Robert Naunton, published in 1824. Edited by Edward Arber. (illustrateur). New Edition. Twelvemo, xxvi, [2], 156pp. Quarter green morocco, title in gilt, marbled boards. Complete with a frontispiece portrait of Sir Robert Naunton and eight engraved plates by R. Cooper. An attractive piece. Robert Naunton (1563-1635) was a member of the House of Commons and historian of the reign of Queen Elizabeth. This account of the life of Queen Elizabeth was still in manuscript form when he died in 1635. It was first published in 1641 and again in 1642, with the title Fragmenta Regalia, or Observations on the late Queen Elizabeth, her Times and Favorites. Naunton's manuscripts and letters remain in the British Museum, and subsequent revisions of this work have appeared, most recently in 1985, prepared by J.S. Cerovski.
