The next 8 pages cover the "Geology of the Minnesota Valley" by Professor N. H. Winchell, State Geologist. Pages 177-257 presents "The Sioux Massacre of 1862" by Charles Bryant. The remainder of the volume presents individual county histories of the many counties that comprise the Minnesota River Valley. The individual county histories provide additional detailed information regarding early settlers and the Sioux Uprising. Moderate wear to corners and edges. Spine has external repairs to both hinges, top 1.5 inches of spine has been replaced, and some chipping to base of spine. A good-very good copy of this scarce and important history.

Spine stamped in blind and gilt with faux raised bands and six fields decorated with a leaf ornament stamped in brown. Marbled end papers and edges. One of the nicer copies we've seen in sometime.
