Bound in publisher's green cloth with blind cover titles and gold spine titles. Bookplate of previous owner on front pastedown. Spine sun faded and bumped on both ends. Corners very gently rubbed, top page edges have some minor soiling and spotting. Front cover has 4 spots of faded color. Fold-out map has a 3 inch tear in the left margin that does affect the map. Four pages in the table of contents unopened. Arthur Balyney Percival (1874-1940) spent almost 30 years in Africa. He worked for the Game Department of the British East Africa Protectorate (Kenya) for 22 of those years. This book is a result of his vast knowledge of the game and country of the area and includes important descriptions of the terrain and of his many hunts after game animals. The book contains 7 chapters on lions, 1 on leopards, 1 on cheetahs, serval, and caracal, 2 on buffalo, 1 on giraffe, 2 on elephant, 2 on rhinoceros, and more. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 374 pages.
