HISTORICAL IMAGERY: An exceptional social and architectural archive of the Fylde coast. The foreground captures an authentic slice of turn-of-the-century vernacular life, showing women in full-length trailing skirts and children in traditional pinafores with holiday sunhats wading and fishing in the shallow ocean surf. Sweeping across the background is a complete, detailed architectural profile of the historic St Annes Pier, highlighting its elaborate Victorian ironwork pavilions and promenades. POSTAL HISTORY & MANUSCRIPT CONTENT: This copy is postally used and features a beautifully legible, dense hand-written message in dark fountain pen ink. Dated by the sender "29.9.07" (September 29, 1907), the letter captures the tail end of a British summer holiday: "Thank you so much for nice letter which I found here when we returned from Black pool. had a delightful time. Paper Back. Etat : Very Good. This books noticeable hole has been deliberately made by shooting it with a ".44 magnum full metal jacket" according to the publishers note on the first page. The bullet penetrated straight through every page and exited out the back cover, so if you want to see what kind of hole a bullet like that makes in a solid object, this is the book for you. The same note lists this book as No 095 of a 300 run limited edition. Other than this publishing quirk the only defect is a little shelf rubbing on the back cover.
