Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st. Ghosting on end papers, red pencil checkmarks in margins, cover and pages very good. Dust jacket darkened, especially spine, edge worn and chipped. A fun collection of Quaker humor with a strong flavor of the kindly, candid Quaker philosophy mixed with the genuinely funny situation. This is a special pre-publication copy inscribed by the authors to Richmond Miller of Friends Central Bureau in Philadelphia. Includes correspondence from the authors and publisher to Richmond, a typed copy of his review of the book, and his related notes on a card from George School announcing the appointment of Eric Curtis as Head of School in 1967, and on the back end papers.

Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good Minus. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). ' September, 1913, This selection from his writings is published by Germantown Friends School in celebration of Irvin C. Poley's Forty-Fifth anniversary as a member of its faculty and in honor of his contributions to education, June, 1958'. Mr. Poley had also a principal at Germantown Friends School. On the first front and paper Mr. Poley has inscribed the book 'For Joseph S. Daltry, with whom I share at least two enthusiasms, Irvin Poley, 7 January, 1958'. Joseph S. (Samuel) Daltry was a music teacher at Wesleyan University from 1918 to 1967. You can see the covers of the book in the photographs provided. They are in very nice condition. There isn't any wear at the corners, edges, or spine ends. There is a little bit of color fading off the top edge of the front cover. This book is square and straight. Although I found five instances of a sliver of space between opposing pages in the text, the book is solidly bound. There is no looseness anywhere. The pages are very clean. They are in very good condition, without any creasing or dogeared corners. There are no markings or attachments. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photographs (Note that the front cover of the book and dust jacket are identical in appearance). I've placed a 'Minus' after the Very Good of the condition rating on the jacket due to the tanning of some of the margins and of the spine. The covers are clean. There are a few edge tears at and adjacent to the spine ends (the protective cover will flatten out and hide the one visible in the 3rd photo). The flaps are in very good condition. The jacket is not clipped and will be fitted with a protective cover once the photos are scanned. Inscribed by Author(s).
