Signed letter from Fahrenkopf laid in, along with slip for ordering additional copies Oversized hardcover in 192 pages with photographs on every page, has burgundy cloth-covered boards wit h the presidential seal in gilt in center of front cover & gilt lettering to spine. Condition is Fine: new, but lacking that Brand New crispness! Completely clean, pages white, binding strong & straight. Flawless! The unclipped DJ downgraded to VG-/G+ due to light soiling & discoloration & some short tears & chips, with two darkened rubbed areas on back cover. Nicely protected in new mylar cover free! Program's envelop is present, and is worn, torn, had ink marks and is soiled. Interior page states: The Inaugural Committee present the program for the Inauguration of Richard Milhous Nixon 37th President of the United States and Spiro Theodore Agnew 39th Vice President of the United States January 20, 1969. The Oath of Office is presented followed by sections on The President of the United States (text by Willard Edwards), The First Lady (Text by Vera Glaser), Excerpts from the Acceptance Speech, The President's Cabinet, Inaugural Week Schedule, The Inaugural Concert, 1969 Inaugural Parade, The Line of March, The Capitol Ceremony, The Inaugural Ceremony, The 1969 Inaugural Ball, The Official Inaugural Book, The Inaugural Medal, The Vice President of the United States (Text by A. E. P. Wall), The Vice President's Lady (Text by Helen Henry), A Message from the Chairman, Committees and key staff and a brief Acknowledgment printed inside the back cover. There is an order form for The Inaugural Story laid in at the back. The first inauguration of Richard Nixon as the 37th president of the United States was held on Monday, January 20, 1969, at the East Portico of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. This was the 46th inauguration and marked the commencement of the first and eventually only full term of both Richard Nixon as president and Spiro Agnew as vice president. Chief Justice Earl Warren administered the presidential oath of office to Nixon, and Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen administered the vice presidential oath to Agnew. Nixon was the first non-incumbent vice president to be inaugurated as president. This was also the last presidential oath administered by Chief Justice Warren. A. E. P. Wall is believed to be the author known as Ed Wall, former editor of the Archdiocese of Chicago's English-language newspaper. Wall's journalistic career included service as managing editor of the Honolulu Advertiser; editor of the Hilo (Hawaii) Tribune-Herald; Sunday editor of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin; director and editor-in-chief of Catholic News Service in Washington, D.C.; editor of the Catholic Review in Baltimore, editor of the Chicago Catholic and its predecessor, the New World, editor of the Central Florida Episcopalian, reporter for the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, editor for the Worcester Telegram in Massachusetts, reporter for the Peoria Journal and editor of a national labor paper.
