First edition with these illustrations (hardback). 8vo (25cm by 19cm), 256pp. 12 colour plates, text illustrations. Original deluxe publisher's binding of full green morocco, gilt titling to the spine, top edge gilt. The book is intact, but the binding is a little scruffy, with rubbing and scuffing to the spine and to the edges of the boards, and some sunning and uneven darkening. There is some light scattered foxing of the preliminary pages, but the contents are generally in very good condition. Overall, just about a good copy of an unusual variant; this binding has the titling and publisher's imprint to the spine, but the front board is unlettered.
