Wrappers with a bit of light creasing and a couple of tiny stains, near fine. *Our Book--Good Will Magazine* was short-lived African-American periodical, published irregularly between April 1941 and March 1946. This handsomely produced "Register of Who's Who" was published to coincide with Cleveland hosting the 1941 National Baptist Convention. The text includes a directory of Cleveland (and Toledo) African-American merchants, grouped by profession, as well as a list of churches. Articles include "A Word of Welcome, National Baptist Convention" by W.H. McKinney; "Stop Negro Discrimination in our Defense Industries" by Hon. Martin L. Sweeney; "Pastor Charges Abuse of Negro Troops in the South: Letter to Roosevelt Asks Immediate Remedy" by Rev. John Evans; and several articles promoting Rev. J.C. Austin's election as president of the National Baptist Convention. The lower wrap features an ad for white politician Martin L. Sweeney, featuring a half-tone portrait and the text "Elect a Liberal Mayor of Cleveland: Martin L. Sweeney. Cleveland's Outstanding Friend of the Negro Welcomes the Delegates to this Convention" (Sweeney would not be successful in his bid).
