Etat : Fair. 1837. Second Edition. 187 pages. Fully bound in brown leather. Pages are lightly tanned and foxed throughout, heavier to endpapers. Light pencil scribbling to last page and endpaper. Occasional thumb-marking present. Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have moderate edge wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Leather peeling to all surfaces, with noticeable scuffing and scratches overall. Stained marking to boards. Black marking to front board.

Yellow endpapers. 408, 414pp. Index to second volume. 2-page Preface missing. Riddle (1804-1859) was select preacher at Oxford in 1834 and 1854, and Bampton lecturer in 1852. From 1840 until his death he was incumbent of St. Philip's, Leckhampton in Gloucestershire. He was a vigorous defender of evangelical principles. GOOD. Bindings intact and fairly sound. Textblocks appear clean. Corners bumped. Owner's name. Spine tips starting.
